Happy sandwich

Happy sandwich

For the "Happy Package" ..... I often prepare this sandwich for children. The combination of Nutella and bananas is perfect ... and the toast makes it crispy. ..and with a little imagination for children it will be a joy package :)

  • 2 slices of toast
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon Nutella

Servings: 1

Preparation time: less than 15 minutes

HOW TO PREPARE THE RECIPE Happy sandwich:

First we fry the slices of bread in a toaster. I used white bread but you can replace it with wholemeal bread or any other type of bread you want.

Peel a squash, grate it and slice it thinly.

Take a slice of toast and grease the entire surface of Nutella. And in this case you can replace Nutella with any other type of chocolate cream you want ... why not .... even with white chocolate cream.

Place the banana slices over the Nutella, keeping two to make the eyes.

We take the second slice and cut the eyes the size of banana slices.

We overlap the second slice of bread over the first. In the cut shapes we put the two banana slices and with a little Nutella we "draw" the mouth and the eyebrows.

We serve the sandwich with a smile on our face :) ...

Good appetite !

I have been craving Magnolia Bakery & # 8217s lime and coconut cheesecake since I had it years ago when I visited New York. While one can make the argument that I could just drive to Downtown L.A. to get it, I & # 8217m lazy. Lazy enough to try making my own version of it, anyways. So for the cake, & # 8230

This is literally the simplest recipe I have ever posted on this blog. Mostly because it was something I thought of randomly when I was watching videos of Japanese chefs making yakimochi. Yakimochi is a grilled mochi, made by slowly charring kirimochi. Now, kirimochi is a mochi that is slowly dried out until it is & # 8230

Announcement was an April Fools' joke in 2012

The claim that Chick-fil-A is releasing a steak sandwich started as an April Fools' joke nearly a decade ago.

The restaurant took to Facebook on April 1, 2012, and wrote, "April fools! Did you really think we would release a steak sandwich? Chick-fil-A has always been and will always be committed to serving the best chicken."

There are no announcements regarding a new steak filet sandwich on the Chick-fil-A’s official website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

BBQ Hawks shared the promotional image seen in the Facebook posts on April 1, 2012, in a fake review of the item headlined, "Trying the new Chick-Fil-A" Steak Filet Sandwich. "

A note at the bottom of the article reads, "Happy April Fool's Day - for those who noticed, Chick-fil-a is not open on Sundays, nor is Seattle sunny this time of year. Big thanks to our friends at Chick-fil -a for the inspiration and source of our 'review'. "

Ingredients

Onion Jam

Step 1

Cook oil, mustard seeds, and turmeric in a large skillet over medium-high, stirring occasionally, until seeds begin to pop, about 1 minute. Add onions and season with salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are beginning to soften, about 4 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are softened and jammy and starting to brown around the edges, 15–20 minutes. Set jam aside.

Do ahead: Jam can be made 1 week ahead. Transfer to an airtight container cover and chill.

Scallion Chutney

Step 2

Puree scallions, chile, garlic, ginger, cilantro, mint, lemon juice, a big pinch of salt, and ⅔ cup water in a blender until smooth. Transfer to a small bowl. (Makes about 2 cups. Store leftovers in an airtight container cover, chill, and use within 3 days.)

Potatoes and assembly

Step 3

Place potatoes in a large pot and pour in cold water to cover by 1 & quot. Add a large handful of salt (water should taste briny) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat simmer until potatoes are very tender but not falling apart, 30–35 minutes. Drain and let sit until cool enough to handle. Peel potatoes and slice ¼ & quot thick. Let cool completely.

Step 4

Slather one side of bread slices with scallion chutney. Distribute half of Monterey Jack and half of cheddar over 8 slices. Top with some reserved onion jam, followed by 3–4 potato slices. Sprinkle with chaat masala, then top with remaining cheese close up sandwiches.

Step 5

Heat 1 Tbsp. ghee in a large nonstick skillet. Place 1 or 2 sandwiches (as many as will comfortably fit) in skillet, lay a baking sheet or skillet on top, and cook, pressing, until bottom sides of sandwiches are golden brown, about 4 minutes. Turn sandwiches over and add a bit more ghee to pan if needed. Cover again and cook, pressing, until other side is golden brown and cheese is melted, about 4 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and cut into quarters. Repeat with remaining ghee and sandwiches.

How would you rate Bombay Sandwich?

Super delicious and the sliced potatoes make a great stand-in for a meat filling typically found in a sandwich. The flavors meld into a pleasant gestalt with a contrasting set of textures I found really compelling. I used a pair of extra hot cast iron skillets to cook and press these sandwiches into Elysian fields of golden brown. My only beef with the recipe is the potato prep: why the heck are we cooking whole potatoes for 45 minutes and waiting another 15 for them to cool to peel and slice? Next time around, I & # x27ll slice them first and then cook them: they should be done in 10 minutes by then.

Made these again and wanted to add one more note (also Bebe Von Bernstein from Brooklyn, if you ever see this - can we be friends? We have the same pet peeve :) My instagram is fatima0203). These stay crunchy for a while, but if for some reason you want to keep them crunchy + warm, I kept them in a 225 oven for 1.5 hours on a foiled tray (do not cover though!) And they were still perfect. And on the subject of ghee + breakfast-y foods, if you & # x27re not already cooking your eggs in ghee, try it!

These sandwiches are so, so good! I made them as directed in the original recipe for dinner, and then made them again the next morning for breakfast with scrambled eggs instead of the potatoes, and it was just as delicious!

made these this weekend and WOAH! wouldn & # x27t change a thing, I did have some onion jam leftover (which some of my family did say they wanted even more of on their sandwiches), and have been using them as toppers on all sorts of things. it did make for a super indulgent sandwich but one that every vegetarian dreams of.

Wow, just wow. These are AMAZING! I made a bunch for a weekend gathering and holy guacamole, these were delicious! I had friends buzzing around me while I made the onions, they were all excited by the smell of caramelizing onions. I doubled the onions and had none left over but I did use generous portions of them on the sandwiches. The flavor was complex, the ghee fried the bread perfectly and like someone else said, they stayed crunchy for much time after making them. I highly recommend making these!

Have not made this recipe yet, but want to give mad props to Fatima in Chicago, who may have written my favorite - and most helpful - recipe review of all time. (And one of my pet peeves is people who weigh in on recipes they haven & # x27t made, but tbh, Fatima makes me want to make this recipe as much as the original recipe). BA: Any way to follow specific reviewers? That would rock, as I & # x27d like to follow Fatima. . .

This is a lot of work if you think of it like a grilled cheese but if you think of it as a fancy snack at a picnic or as an addition to eggs at brunch then they are SO worth it. I did everything according to the recipe except: I swapped Monterey Jack for Gouda because itâ & # x20AC; & # x2122; s all I had, and I didn’t use chaat masala because I always hate the sulfur smell I feel like it has. I think I would try it next time though. I used a ton of ghee in my pans and the sandwiches were so perfect that even after sitting for 30 minutes, then getting transferred to a park and sitting another 30 minutes, you could still hear crunching. I will use ghee forever now as the fat to cook grilled cheese in. My accidentally over-boiled potatoes were between a slice and mush, but honestly the slightly mashed potato was a great contrast to the crispy bread, so I wouldn & # x27t mind making the same mistake next time. A lot of leftover chutney so whenever I make these again I would double the jammy onions in order to make / eat these sandwiches for days afterwards!

Happy Grilled Cheese Day!

Happy Grilled Cheese Day! I cannot be the last to know about this momentous occasion on April 12, can I? Grilled cheese sandwiches are a beautiful thing, and this is truly a holiday to celebrate. There is nothing simpler and a work of art than a grilled cheese sandwich. Growing up in Plain City I headed to high school in 1979. An off the beaten track, hidden gem was a restaurant called The Dutch Kitchen, just a few hundred feet from the front door. The smells that wafted across the beautiful green grass front lawn of Jonathan Alder HS were like the Pied Piper’s magic pipe putting already ravenous teenagers in a trance, as we followed the tantalizing smells to enjoy the “Amish” culinary delights. One of their specialties to teens far and wide across the district were their grilled cheese sandwiches. Nothing gourmet, just three simple ingredients. The foundation of the awesomeness was thick slices of homemade bread sandwiched around cheese, which I am sure was processed, and of course slathered with grilled butter to a golden work of art. Once at your table, the sandwich was cut in half and delightful cheesy deliciousness oozed from the middle. My love for grilled cheese has never wavered since. In the years that followed, I have tried to replicate grilled cheese in my own kitchen, never succeeding in duplicating the perfection of The Dutch Kitchen top prize.

Paul would say it is a big Strike Out. I primarily use commercial loaf bread - STRIKE ONE. A big STRIKE TWO in his mind is that I rarely use butter. My only excuse is that I’m trying to be a little healthier with a nonstick pan and cooking spray. And finally STRIKE THREE: golden perfection is rarely achieved. My aging process has given way to multitasking or “squirrel.” Paul’s grilled cheese ends up more like blackened cheese. More than once, I have been known to scrape charred particles off the sandwich and flip it to the underside hoping he doesn't notice.

The History of Grilled Cheese from howstuffworks.com states that 75% of people who buy sliced cheese are buying it for grilled cheese. Cheese and bread have gone together for thousands of years. The story goes for modern grilled cheese, as we know it, was created back in the early 1900s. Toasted and melted cheese sandwiches were the rage, but it wasn’t until the 1960s when grilled cheese became the norm terminology. Americans have gone crazy for grilled cheese since then. In 2003, a guy in Los Angeles started the Grilled Cheese Invitational which ran for 11 years with thousands competing for the top cheese.

Today grilled cheese is featured on far and wide menus. Melt, a gastro pub that started in Cleveland, now has 12 Ohio locations specializing in you guessed it, grilled cheese. Their menu features over 25 variations of the delicacy along with wings, salads and other cheesy delectables. Recipes for grilled cheese can be found using a hodge-podge of breads, waffles, fillings and prepared on anything from panini / George Foreman grills, and toaster ovens to the traditional way slathered with lots of butter on the stovetop.

No matter your favorite way to appreciate a grilled cheese, be sure to make a great one this year. Let us make it a viral holiday to remember by flooding social media with your magically delicious grilled cheese creations!

Royal Enfield Classic 350 modified into a sandwich joint: Not just RE’s breadwinner!

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has put a lot of businesses on the backfoot. One of the worst affected areas in these challenging times is the food industry. From street vendors to even some of the finest restaurants, almost everyone in this space is currently facing a tough time with the lockdowns in place. During such times, when many owners have shut shops of their restaurants or food joints, many have turned towards a food cart or a food truck as these are economical ways to start a food business. Very recently, we have come across a Royal Enfield Classic 350 that has been modified into a sandwich joint. Better known as Happy’s Charcoal in the city of Surat in Gujarat, the said food joint is quite famous for its cheese sandwich. The prime reason behind the name is that the sandwiches are cooked on coal only using a cast iron sandwich toaster. Using coal gives a smoky flavor to the sandwich which is one of the reasons why this joint is quite famous in the city.

As one can see in the pictures, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been bolted with an additional cart, on which the vendor makes sandwiches. There aren’t very deep modifications done to the bike itself and hence, its overall shape and structure look largely intact. The vendor places the menu on the rider’s seat of the motorcycle. The benefit of such a structure is the ease of riding and hence, the vendor can easily go places. Speaking of what powers the bike, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 draws power from a 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a five-speed transmission, churning out 19 hp of power and 28 Nm of torque.

It is quite interesting that the Classic 350 that is currently the breadwinner or the best-selling model for the company is a breadwinner for this vendor as well. Also, it is good to see that modified bikes are not there in existence just for the visual appeal or the attention they attract but these are being used by the people to earn livelihoods as well. Let us know if you come across some other examples of modified Royal Enfield bikes that are being used as a food cart! Stay tuned for more updates and also, subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Chickpea Salad Sandwich Recipe

If you & # 8217re looking for a quick and easy vegetarian (easily adapted to vegan) lunch idea, this Chickpea Salad Sandwich recipe is just what you need! It takes just minutes to make, can last a few days in the refrigerator, and is flavorful and satisfying!

I & # 8217ve considered myself a & # 8220work at home mom & # 8221 for about six years now. So working from home is nothing new for this girl, and that means I almost always eat lunch at home.

But I & # 8217ve heard from so many friends, male and female, that they & # 8217re eating lunch at home for the first time ever. And they & # 8217re running out of quick, easy, and nutritious ideas. If that & # 8217s you, I & # 8217ve got you covered.

This Chickpea Salad Sandwich checks all the boxes.

meatless and easily adapted to vegan.

a recipe that can be made ahead of time and eaten for a few days.

This Chickpea Salad Sandwich is very similar to a classic Chicken Salad Sandwich, but chickpeas (a pantry staple & # 8211yay!) Take the place of chicken. You can use regular mayonnaise or a vegan mayo, and I like to use a little plain Greek yogurt to lighten it up. You can also use a vegan yogurt if you want to go that route.

Like traditional chicken salad, I use grapes for sweetness, celery for crunch, and toasted walnuts for flavor and more contrasting textures. The mayonnaise gives a creamy base and it & # 8217s seasoned simply with salt and pepper. You're going to love this!
